The Phenomenon of "POST TRUTH" gained significant attention and momentum around the 2016 US presidential election.
Why post truth was chosen as the word of the year:-
The term "post truth" was even chosen as the word of the year by Oxford dictionaries in 2016, highlighting its growing relevance in contemporary discourse.
# Definition of Post Truth:-
- Post Truth –
Describing debate that is based on passion and emotions rather than reason and evidence.
‡ POST TRUTH=
• Kind of public discourse in which evidence and logical reasoning are less important than appeals to emotions and personal belief when seeking to influence Public opinion.
★Role of Digital platforms and influencers :
• Digital platforms and influencers can play a significant role in spreading post-truth narratives due to their large following and perceived credibility.
• Digital platforms prioritise content based on engagement (like shares, comments), not accuracy.
Example: Fake news stories ofen go viral faster than corrections or verified news because they provoke strong reactions.
★Influence of Bots and Trolls:
- Automated bots and coordinated troll farms can create the illusion of widespread support or consensus around false narratives.
Ex: Interference in election through fake accounts promoting disinformation.
– In the context of the post Truth era, where emotions and personal belief override objective facts, influencers can either contribute to the misinformation or act as responsible communicators.
Ex: Health and wellness influencers promoting unproven "natural" cures over medically approved treatments.
*Impact of Post Truth on public opinion –
• In today's digital age, people are more likely to believe things based on their feelings and personal opinions,rather than on facts and evidence.

As a result ,
False information feels true if it fits with our beliefs — even if it's not backed by facts.

In short,
Post Truth era basically signfied " Decline of fact-based truth."and ofen leads us to altered truth. Since in this era of social media where We are surrounded by many unknown faceless people thus these people try to lead us to unaltered truth.
